Baker said his department routinely tried to identify anyone who, in his view, violated state laws while attending a Patriots game or any of the other football matches and concerts. at Gillette Stadium.

In a separate statement posted on the team's Twitter account, the Patriots said the team's safety had identified the fan who had thrown the beer at Hill's face.

"The security of Gillette Stadium has identified the fan who violated his code of conduct by throwing beer at a player during last night's match," tweeted the team. "The case has been turned over to the local law enforcement and the fan will receive a letter of disinvitation for all upcoming events at Gillette Stadium."

Baker said that in order to lay criminal charges, the police should first interview Hill, watch the video and determine if the acts are qualified as criminal acts. He added that if the investigation concluded that the action of the fan was limited to throwing beer, the police could be accused of simple assault.

Hill said after the match that the rude behavior of the fans did not bother him. Hill scored three times and had 142 yards in the game.
