Chris Paul scored 32 points, a high in the season. The Houston Rockets began a five-game road trip with a 14-point deficit and a 119-111 victory over the Nlyn Brooklyn on Friday night.
Paul helped the Rockets master four games and avoid their first 1-6 start since 2010-11 by scoring 13-27 in the field. Paul also scored five points with three points, including two that beat the ring in the second and third quarters. Carmelo Anthony tied six appearances and scored 28 points in 31 minutes on the bench.
The Rockets played their third consecutive game without James Harden (left hamstring). Harden worked in the field before the opening match and his coach, Mike D'Antoni, said he would probably be playing Saturday in Chicago.
Caris LeVert scored a career-high 29 points for the Nets, who lost for the fourth time in five games. Joe Harris added 18 points and Spencer Dinwiddie, 12.
Thunder 134, wizards 111
Russell Westbrook had 23 points and 12 assists, Jerami Grant scored 22 and went to Oklahoma City in Washington defeating the debut of Dwight Howard.
Westbrook scored 10 of 16 attempts and Grant conceded 9 out of 11 for the Thunder, who moved away in the second quarter. Paul George scored 17 points, and Dennis Schroder added 16 on the bench. Oklahoma City, who was second in the road, won their fourth consecutive game.
Bradley Beal led Washington with a record of 27 points. Howard, who missed the training camp, the pre-season and the first seven games of the team due to a piriformis muscle contracture in the lower back, scored 20 points on 7 out of 8 shots in 23 minutes when the Wizards lost their fifth straight game.
Pacers 107, Bulls 105
The 18-foot team of Darren Collison allowed Indiana to survive the seesaw battle with his Chicago host.
After watching Antonio Blakeney rebound improbably the Bulls after a 105-101 deficit with a four-point play with 30.5 seconds of Collison's foul, the Pacers called a timeout and got Collison's winning shot 12 seconds later.
It was the fourth consecutive victory for the Pacers on the road and fourth in their last five games, with Victor Oladipo recording a double-double of 25 points and 14 rebounds. Chicago, meanwhile, lost a third straight in the middle of a four-game family match.
Knicks 118, Mavericks 106
Rookie goaltender Allonzo Trier scored 23 points and led four players to the double-digit bench as New York earned their first road win of the season against Dallas.
The Knicks, who entered the game 25th in the NBA (106.0 points per game) and 26th in goal percentage (0.431), scored a double-digit score for seven players. New York shot 54.8% overall despite 7 points out of 29 beyond the arc.
Mavs' reserve Dorian Finney-Smith scored 19 points, a top in the season, rookie Luka Doncic had 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists and Harrison Barnes added 14 points on just four out of 14 shots that he was excluded in the second half.
Grizzlies 110, Jazz 100
Mike Conley scored 28 points and Shelvin Mack added 19 points to earn Memphis a 10-point win over Utah.
Marc Gasol added 17 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and four interceptions to help the Grizzlies win their second road win against the Jazz. Memphis has won three times in a row and five out of six times in total.
Ricky Rubio scored 22 points to lead Utah. Joe Ingles added 19 points and Jae Crowder scored 18 points. Rudy Gobert had 16 rebounds. The Jazz remain without a win at home, dropping to 0-3 in Salt Lake City. Utah played without a guard Donovan Mitchell, who was sidelined with a squeeze at the right hamstring.
Lawn mowers 120, magic 95
Los Angeles ended a two-game losing streak with an outstanding victory in Orlando.
Lou Williams led Los Angeles with 28 points in just 21 minutes, including 5-on-5 to 3-point shots. Tobias Harris scored 21 with seven rebounds and Boban Marjanovic recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds in his first start with the Clippers.
Marjanovic was ahead of Marcin Gortat, who was in good health but did not play Friday night. Gortat had started 186 consecutive games, but averaged only 3.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in eight starts this season.
