Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia, who only played three games last season with a knee injury, was removed from the injury list and will start Tuesday at home, announced the team.

The Red Sox are about to lift their champion banner before Tuesday's home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays. Pedroia will be seventh in the batters' order.

Pedroia, 35, MVP in 2008, is slowed since a slip in his left knee surgically repaired to second base by Baltimore Manny Machado on April 21, 2017. Pedroia had surgery on the left knee on October 25, 2017 and was restricted to three major league games in 2018, May 26-29.

Gold Glove's four-time winner is the oldest player in the Red Sox lineup.

Brock Holt, who was stung by his 2-year-old son, Griff, was put on the injured list due to a right corneal injury.

To make room on the list, the Red Sox opted for the infielder Tzu-Wei Lin at Triple-A Pawtucket.
