HAPPY VALLEY, Penn. – The Buckeyes put points on the board with less than two minutes to go in the first half. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins gave way to running back J. K. Dobbins for a 26-yard touchdown. Penn State leads Ohio State 13-7 at halftime.

The Buckeyes, fourth in the standings, visited the Nittany Lions, ranked ninth, on Saturday night in one of the most important games of the season.

Ohio State and Penn State started at 7:30 pm at Beaver Stadium.

The Nittany Lions were the first to score in the Saturday night game. Penn State's Jake Pinegar started a 34-yard pitch in the first quarter, leading a 3-0 lead against the Buckeyes.

The state of Ohio did not put any points on the board during the first quarter and scored three points in the second quarter.

Penn State was the first to score in the second quarter when kicker Jake Pinegar scored a 39-yard goal. Penn State led Ohio State 6-0.

The Nittany Lions scored the first touchdown of the game in the second quarter. Trace McSorley, the Penn State rookie, passed the ball to receiver KJ Hamler. At this point, Penn State led the state of Ohio 13-0.

The Buckeyes faced Nittany's Lions in Happy Valley during a "Penn State outing experience," in which fans lit up the stadium with white in the crowd.

Penn State is not Ohio State's biggest rival. But the Nittany Lions have recently been the most serious threat to the Buckeyes for the supremacy of Big Ten. They split the last two meetings, with the winner qualifying for the Big Ten each time.
