Pete Prisco's Week 5 NFL Choice: Patriots Eliminate Colts and Jaguars in First Loss

[ad_1]

The quarter of the NFL season has arrived and I am over .500 with my choices against the gap.

That's the good news. The bad news is that I am only a finished game.

After a score of 7-7-1 last week, I am now 31-30-2 for the year. I would be much better if I learned not to face the Kansas City Chiefs – what their fans remind me every week.

So guess what? I take them against them again this week. The Jacksonville Jaguars will go to Arrowhead and give the Chiefs their first loss of the season and impose themselves as the AFC 's best team.

The Jaguars defense has not done its best and ranks first in allotted points and yards. It's almost like they're bored.

They will not be Sunday with Patrick Mahomes on the other side of the field. Look for the Jaguars to take the game flat.

If they do not, Chiefs' fans will certainly want me to muffle with one of those unreal coasts of Jack Stack Barbecue.

Indianapolis to New England

Time: Thursday at 20:20 ET (NFL network, FOX)
Line: Patriots -10

This game has an eruption for me. The Colts are decimated in high school and Tom Brady, who plays prime time, will show that he is still one of the best. Andrew Luck will not be able to follow.

To choose: Patriots 33, Colts 20

Tennessee to Buffalo

Time: Sunday 1 pm ET (CBS)
Line: Titans -3.5

It sounds like a cautious game for the Titans. They have just won two tough and physical games, and now have to hit the road to face a team that they should beat. I think they're winning, but it will be close.

To choose: Titans 17, Bills 16

Atlanta to Pittsburgh

Time: Sunday 1 pm ET (FOX)
Line: Steelers -3

It will be a shooting. The two defenses have major problems and two quarters have the capacity to enlighten them. I think we see this here. The air will be full of touchdown passes. Enjoy this one. Falcons win tight shootings

To choose: Hawks 37, Steelers 34

Denver to the Jets of New York

Time: Sunday 1 pm ET (CBS)
Line: Jets -1

It's a long trip on a short week to the Broncos. It's always a challenge. They need Case Keenum to play better at quarterback. The Jets looked bad last week against the Jaguars, but at home they bounced back to play well. They earn it in what could be considered an inconvenience by some.

To choose: Jets 21, Broncos 20

Jacksonville to Kansas City

Time: Sunday 1 pm ET (CBS)
Line: Heads -3

It's the game of the week. Watching quarterback Patrick Mahomes heads against the Jaguars defense will be a treat. Mahomes has not made any choice this season and the defensive backs of the Jaguars do not have any. It changes here. Watch T.J. Yeldon will have a big day running for the Jaguars. Jacksonville takes it.

To choose: Jaguars 23, Chiefs 17

Which teams should you come back in week 5? And which team with the aspirations of the Super Bowl will make a big fright at home? Now check out SportsLine to see which teams win more than 50% of the simulations, all from the model that outperformed 98% of the experts that NFLPickWatch.com has followed in the past two seasons.

Green Bay in Detroit

Time: Sunday 1 pm ET (FOX)
Line: Packers -1

Aaron Rodgers was not happy with last week's offensive, so expect it to change here. He will enlighten the Lions. But I think Matt Stafford, who has been successful against the Packers in the past, will also get his yardstick. It will be fun to watch, but Rodgers will make the most of it.

To choose: Packers 31, Lions 23

Baltimore to Cleveland

Time: Sunday 1 pm ET (CBS)
Line: Ravens -3

The Ravens play consecutive games on the road and have just won a thrilling victory over the Steelers. It can be exhausting. That's why this game will be close. But I think the way the Ravens' defense is playing will make things difficult for Baker Mayfield. The crows win it.

To choose: Ravens 21, chestnuts 16

New York Giants in Carolina

Time: Sunday 1 pm ET (FOX)
Line: Panthers -7

The Panthers lost their time, while the Giants lost against the Saints. The Giants offensive fought a poor defense of the Saints in this one, so why not think it's succeeding here? It will be an underperforming game won by the Panthers behind Christian McCaffrey.

To choose: Panthers 20, Giants 13

Miami to Cincinnati

Time: Sunday 1 pm ET (CBS)
Line: Bengals -6.5

The dolphins play consecutive games on the road and get hurt. The Bengals were impressive in attack, but the defense continues to struggle. It could help Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins keep it at hand. The Bengals win it, but it's closer than expected.

To choose: Bengals 24, dolphins 21

Oakland to Los Angeles Chargers

Time: Sunday, 4:05 pm ET (CBS)
Line: Chargers -4.5

The Raiders won for the first time this season last week against Cleveland, but the defense remains problematic. This is good news for Philip Rivers. The Chargers defense has not been so good, so expect a lot of points. Chargers will win a very successful game.

To choose: Chargers 33, Raiders 27

Arizona to San Francisco

Time: Sunday, 4:25 pm ET (FOX)
Line: 49ers -4.5

Josh Rosen will make his first NFL start for the Cardinals in this one. He was strong last week on his first start against the Seahawks, but playing on the road is a challenge. The 49ers did good things against the Chargers last week, and I think that continues. The 49ers win the game behind C.J. Beathard.

To choose: 49ers 23, Cardinals 17

Minnesota to Philadelphia

Time: Sunday, 4:25 pm ET (FOX)
Line: Eagles -3

This rematch of the match for the NFC title last January, won by the Eagles in a decisive win, features two teams that have not been so beautiful this season. The Eagles lost last week in Tennessee, while the Vikings suffered a loss to the Rams. The Vikings do not look good in defense and this will appear in this one. The eagles take it.

To choose: Eagles 27, Vikings 20

Los Angeles Rams in Seattle

Time: Sunday, 4:25 pm ET (FOX)
Line: Rams -7

The Rams are flying high in attack and will be rested after playing last Thursday. The Seahawks have started a strong defensive game last week against Arizona, but the challenge is much more difficult. Seattle plays a lot better at home, and I think it will help them keep it closer than expected. The Rams take it, but it is tight.

To choose: Rams 27, Seahawks 24

Dallas to Houston

Time: Sunday, 8:20 pm ET (NBC)
Line: Texans -3

The Cowboys regained their strength in attack last week with Ezekiel Elliott. They will have to do it here, but the Texans are fourth in number of passes. This will make the Dallas attack difficult. The Texans have line problems in attack, which could complicate the task of Deshaun Watson. I think the Texans will win a poorly performing match.

To choose: Texans 20, Cowboys 14

Washington in New Orleans

Time: Monday at 8:15 pm ET (ESPN)
Line: Saints -6.5

Drew Brees can set the all-time record for passing yards in a career in this career that brings a little extra to the game, but it's also a big game. Washington has just gone on leave, why the Saints are back home after two road losses. The Redskins have played a solid defense this season and they will be here to keep it tight.

To choose: Saints 23, Redskins 20
