The Bears won a major victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday in prime time, and at the same time increased their lead in the NFC North division. And although quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has played well in recent weeks, it's the defense that allowed the Bears to win Sunday night.
And at the center of it all came running back Khalil Mack.
Mack's dominant performance earned him a new honor as Peter King's "Defensive Player of the Week", who gave the "play-destroyer" list for Mack's position as linebacker.
"I lost count of the number of times we boasted Mack in this space this season," King wrote. "The former Raider was back Sunday night against Minnesota, registering a bag, a tackle for the loss, a breakaway and a single factor of difference every time the Bears defense was on the field."
No label could be more appropriate than Wrecker for Mack. Its impact on the defense of the Bears is indelible. In eight games this season, Mack has eight sacks, five forced fumbles, two breakouts, one interception and one touchdown.
Aside from the status, he changed the culture of an already good Bears defense with his energy and work ethic.
