Phillip Lindsay of the Broncos was ejected for throwing a stack into Ravens

Phillip Lindsay was a pleasant surprise for the Denver Broncos so far in 2018, but the team lost him early in Week 3.

After Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs forced a fumble, Lindsay plunged into a pile with several of his teammates to try to recover the ball. But his attempt to retrieve the tackle was a bit delusional when he started hitting the ball in the middle of humanity.

If Lindsay tried to hit the ball, it's hard to say. It also looks like he's just moaning over a guy.

The CBS team did not agree with the ejection.

Hitting the ball is not uncommon. Charles Tillman, the former defensive striker of the Bears, made a career using his "Peanut Punch" to force the breakaways. Seahawks goaltender Earl Thomas used the karate cup more than once to release the ball.

But it's not hard to see why Lindsay was launched.

Unlike Tillman and Thomas, who threw the ball into space, Lindsay fired shots into a mass of humanity. It would not be a good precedent if the NFL allowed players to throw several hard hits in stacking to try to recover a fumble.

Lindsay gained 178 yards in the first two games of the year, but finished the third week with 20 yards in four races. These are Royce Freeman and Devontae Booker at the head of Lindsay's absence.
