The Phoenix Suns replaced Ryan McDonough from his role as General Manager on Monday, just over a week before the start of the NBA season.
The Suns entrusted the management of the franchise to Vice President of Basketball Operations James Jones and Acting Executive Director Trevor Bukstein.
Jones will manage basketball activities, including coaching, player and staff supervision, while Bukstein will be the primary contact for player transactions.

McDonough was hired by the Suns on May 7, 2013, in the hope that he could rebuild the franchise after Steve Nash, a Hall of Famer, left the franchise.
The Suns also had six different coaches under McDonough. Last season, they sent coach Earl Watson to three games of the season and named Jay Triano interim coach. In the low season, they appointed Igor Kokoskov to the post of head coach.
Kevin McHale is one of the candidates for the post of general manager to watch for long-term, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Jones could be another candidate, reports Wojnarowski.
The season starts one week from Tuesday. The Suns' first game is Oct. 17, when they host the Dallas Mavericks.
