Pistol Annies Attack Divorce, Complicated Women With Humor

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The Pistol Annies' new impertinent song on the reconquest of the bachelor, titled "Got My Name Changed Back", made her words about a husband cheat on the road and prompted to speculate on who could have inspired him.

The trio composed of Miranda Lambert, Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe will not say anything, but Presley notes that there are two divorces and two ex-husbands between them.

"It was a beneficial divorce song that was needed," Presley said. "You're welcome."

"We can say what we want together a little more courageously than we would do alone," added Lambert. "Our entire catalog was dedicated to celebrating things that were not so positive and putting them in a humorous light."

Women are tackling failed marriages, desperate women, feminine friendships and complicated women with a lot of twisted humor and just what it takes to sadness for their first five-year album titled " Interstate Gospel ", released Friday.

They wrote the record together without outside writers, which was mainly their model. "We did not write songs with other writers," Lambert said, but the other two corrected it, noting that there was a song on their first album that her ex-husband, Blake Shelton, had co-written with them.

"Oh, well, he's gone," Lambert laughs.

It's another divorce song that prompted them to start writing again after years of individual work on their solo albums.

Lambert composed a verse and chorus for the unfortunate melody "When I Was His Wife" and sent it to Presley and Monroe in a voice note. Shortly after, they were hanging out at Lambert's house singing songs.

"We do not do writing sessions per se," Presley said.

"We have pajama parties with guitars," Lambert said.

The cut between the discs was productive for the three singers. Lambert has released a critically acclaimed double album, "The Weight of These Wings," while Monroe and Presley have released two solo albums in the last five years.

"It's like we have so much life talking, we have enough for solo projects and as a group," said Lambert.

The song that they will admit about themselves is "Stop Drop and Roll One," a country rocker in which they celebrate their differences and similarities. As the song says, "We have matches, we have eyelashes, we put our mouths back."

"If we put all our bags on the table, it would be" Stop Drop and Roll One, "said Presley.

A song like "Best Years of My Life" shows their ability to create emotionally complex female characters, eager to escape their monotonous lives, through a recreational drug or d & # 39; # 39; a crazy television show. "Masterpiece" recognizes the fascination of the public for the brilliant image of a perfect relationship, even if it is not real.

"There are a lot of things you have to go through (as a woman)," said Monroe. "This album addresses a lot of things and there is a bit of humor and twists that make it a little less hard.

The trio does not tour to promote the album, only three performances in Nashville, New York and Los Angeles, mainly because Presley is pregnant, although they perform at the Country Music Association Awards on November 14th.

"This record is very special and I have the impression that when we do an intimate series of concerts, it gives people the chance to live with him on tape, live in person and then leave," said Lambert.
