Plane crash: An unfortunate aircraft crashed in 2014 | Lucknow News

LUCKNOW: The VT-UPZ plane that crashed on Thursday in Mumbai, killing five people, had already crashed in 2014 in Allahabad. After this incident, the UP Government, who owned it at the time, declared that it was unworthy to steal and the aircraft was auctioned off to current owners, Silver Jubilee Travelers Ltd of Mumbai.

Recalling the 2014 incident, a source from the aviation department said that the plane – brought by the UP Government in 1995 – had been sent to Allahabad for transport a member of the judiciary to Lucknow for consultations on a sensitive subject. But the plane crashed at the time of landing on the landing strip of the IAF in Allahabad.

After the plane crash on Thursday, there was aircraft ownership because the UP Government logo had not been removed from his body. But soon the civil aviation department of the UP clarified that the state government was neither owner nor operator of this aircraft.

The plane, which crashed today, had been abandoned and put on sale after completing the prescribed formalities that included an assessment by the Regulatory Authority and Development Insurance (IRDA) and the auction. The aircraft was purchased in 2014 by Silver Jubilee Travelers Ltd. in Mumbai and had been in maintenance since its purchase.

"It was the first flight test of the plane that crashed before landing on its destination," revealed a senior source in the department. Civil Aviation, questioning how the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was giving an airworthiness NPC to this defective aircraft in the bad weather of Mumbai. It is the DGAC that declares the feasibility of an aircraft in flight and without his permission no civil aviation aircraft can fly.

The Minister of Civil Aviation Nand Kumar Nandi expressed his condolences over this tragedy.

Two years before the 2014 incident, another state government aircraft (VT-UPN) carrying two PS ministers, Shivpal Yadav and Rajendra Chaudhary, had a forced landing in Delhi after that his nose wheel broke. The two ministers had a narrow escape while the plane skidded off the runway and stopped in one way or another. After the incident, the pilot was removed from the state services as he had not contacted the airport staff after learning that the front wheel had broken off .

"This plane carrying the ministers was immediately put on sale because we had a strict policy not to repress an aircraft that develops a technical hitch as the state aircraft only carry VVIP", revealed a senior officer of the Department of Civil Aviation, adding "and that is what saved us today".

This plane was also abandoned and put into action. Bur, even after six years and repeat auctions, no buyer has come so far to buy it. This aircraft was purchased by the UP Government during the Maywati Government in 2008 at an estimated cost of Rs 40 crore.
