A fast-food Doral restaurant became a crime scene Sunday when a husband shot his wife, who was working there, and then turned against himself, the police said.

The murderous-suicide murder took place around 11 am Sunday morning, about an hour after the opening of the Taco Bell KFC restaurant on Northwest 41st Street and 107th Ave.

Police said the married couple had relationship problems.

At 4 pm Yellow police recordings blocked the entire restaurant and its surroundings, as investigators gathered evidence. The husband's red car was two-seater from his wife's white sedan.

Police say a 53-year-old man arrived in a red sedan, parked, entered the restaurant and asked his 51-year-old wife.

The two men began to argue in the lobby, said Miami-Dade police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta. "They had some sort of domestic conflict in the lobby that turned into a physical clash when he pulled out a firearm and started shooting at his wife," Zabaleta said.

She then tried to escape from behind, but he followed. He shot her again, said Zabaleta.

Then the man went back to the lobby where he shot himself.

The police did not identify either the shooter or the victim.

Zabaleta said that there were four employees and an officer in charge at the time of the shooting, but that no one was injured. An employee was in the lobby having breakfast when the shooting took place. This employee managed to get out, said Zabaleta.

The couple has a minor child in common, but the child was not at the restaurant at the time of the shooting, police said. The woman also had an adult son from another relationship.

"As we say too often on these scenes, domestic violence kills," said Zabaleta. "If you do not deal with these domestic problems, they get worse and it ends up in a tragedy like the one we have today. We now have a minor child who will obviously be without mom or dad. "
