Police called after the woman confronts Steve Bannon at the bookstore

A bookstore owner in Richmond, Virginia, said she called the police after a woman confronted and abused former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon in his store.

Speaking to The Richmond Times-Dispatch on Saturday, Black Swan Books owner Nick Cooke said the woman had called Bannon a "piece of garbage."

"Steve Bannon was simply standing, looking at the books, taking care of his own business. I asked her to leave, and she would not do it. And I said: "I'm going to call the police if that's not the case," and I went to call the police and she left, "I'm not sure." ; said Cooke. "And that's the end of the story."

Bannon is the last former or current member of the Trump administration were confronted by members of the public and activists.

A few days before his resignation last week, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency Scott Pruitt was filmed confronting a mother in a Washington DC restaurant on his policies.

At the height of the Trump administration's policy controversy to separate children from their undocumented migrant parents at the border, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, press secretary of the White House, was asked to leave a restaurant in Lexington.

The incidents provoked the debate over the collapse of civility in American politics amidst Trump's division of politics.

A native of Richmond, Bannon's love of books is well known, and he was described as "the person the better read from Washington.

Cooke tells Courier Dispatch that bookstores are places where different points of view should be tolerated.

"We are a bookstore, bookstores are all ideas and tolerate different opinions, not verbally abusing someone, which was happening," says Cooke.

Former Trump advisor, Bannon is considered one of the architects of the populist platform America First. . But the two fell after Bannon was quoted insulting members of Trump's family.

Since he left the White House last August, he has focused on rallying to other populist political challengers in the United States and, more recently, Europe.
