A state soldier was stabbed to the head several times by a suspect following a police lawsuit that ended in an accident in the small town of New Salem on Friday, announced the authorities.
The soldier was pursuing an 18-year-old suspect in a car chase that had begun on Interstate 91 South and had ended at the intersection of Highway 202 and Fay Road, less than 3 km from the Quabbin Reservoir, according to a statement from the state police spokesman. David Procopio.

Police said the vehicle was a silver Toyota Camry that the suspect then drove into Vermont, heading to Interstate 91, Massachusetts, heading south, before engaging on the Route 2 and crash in New Salem.
Neither the soldier nor the suspect were named by officials. The soldier has been working with the Massachusetts State Police since 2006 and has a wife and children, the statement said.
State police officials said the case was ongoing.
