Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen offers a new, limited time menu item in gold.

The chain of restaurants – only Thursday and only four places – will offer a dish literally almost as good as gold: boneless chicken wings, not only dipped in champagne, but also coated with batter and powdered dough. 24-carat gold.

Places where Popeyes prepares his special recipe are in New York (75 Lexington Avenue), New Orleans, Anaheim, California, and Elizabeth, New Jersey. According to consumer demand, Popeyes would consider bringing the gold dish to other places in the future, the company said.

Elizabeth, N.J., which opened in August, is Popeyes' 3000th restaurant. This milestone led the fast food provider to New Orleans at this one-day gold dive celebration.

"We wanted to share this celebration with our fans, so our chefs put together something very special," Popeyes president Alex Santoro said in a statement. The chain is present in 30 countries. "It's a fun way to celebrate this step with us."

The 24-carat champagne wings are part of the Popeyes' Boneless Wing Bash, which includes six boneless wings, a side dish and a biscuit for $ 5, while supplies last.

This price is much cheaper than the dust-free 24-carat gold wings that were on the menu earlier this year at two locations. The Ainsworth restaurant in New York. Those sold at $ 45 (10 wings) or $ 1000 for 50 wings and a bottle of champagne. Ainsworth said that each 50-piece wing order contained $ 200 worth of gold dust.
