Nobody was aware of the system's failure until Dawn Foster, a Guardian columnist, wrote on Twitter that she was able to access Johnson's personal information, the BBC reported.

According to the BBC, individuals could access a member's personal data by entering their email address, without a password, into the application.

Sensitive personal information from ministers such as Environment Secretary Michael Gove and Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson was among the information available in the breach before the Conservative Party's annual conference in Birmingham.

The opposition Labor Party took the opportunity to show that the government could not be trusted to keep the country safe.
