A poster posted Friday at the West Virginia Statehouse linking representative Ilhan Omar, D-Minnesota, to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, has aroused the indignation of lawmakers.
The poster, which was displayed on a table in the Capitol Rotunda, showed a split image of the World Trade Center on fire over a snapshot of Omar.

Meanwhile, the caption of Omar's picture said: "I am proof that you have forgotten".
The poster was part of the "WV GOP Day" display, at a time when "Republicans are taking the rotunda," reported NBC News.

Omar became the first American of Somali origin elected to Congress in November. She is one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress, alongside Democrat Rashida Tlaib.
It was not known immediately who had placed the poster, but lawmakers had a heated argument about the display. The argument even became physical, leaving a porter allegedly injured and a legislator resigning.
Some Democrat MPs condemned the poster and quarreled with House Sergeant-at-Arms Anne Lieberman, "after allegedly making an anti-Muslim remark," NBC News reported. Lieberman denied the remark, but resigned Friday as a result of the allegation.
Democratic lawmaker Mike Caputo reportedly injured a porter during a heated debate, WSAZ reported.
The House has 59 Republicans and 41 Democrats. House Speaker Roger Hanshaw said the incident was under investigation.
"We have allowed politics at the national level to become a cancer at home … to invade our congregation in a way that makes me feel ashamed," he said at a news conference. speech. "We can do better."
Democrat Mike Pushkin called the poster "racist" and "bad." He said that no Republican had condemned this protest.

Omar responded to the poster in a tweet on Friday.
"It's no wonder that my name is on local service stations," she wrote. "Look no further, the anti-Muslim GOP show comparing me to a terrorist terrorist in state capitals and no one condemning them!"
