NEW YORK – Power outages and broken rails have caused significant delays in LIRR service in several Long Island branches on Thursday morning.

The service between Northport and Port Jefferson remains suspended due to a rail break east of Northport.

A limited diesel shuttle service was set up at the Port Jefferson branch, serving the Huntington, Greenlawn and Northport communities via the LIRR.

A PSEG-LI power outage in the Valley Stream region resulted in the temporary suspension of several branches.

The branches of Far Rockaway and Long Beach have been temporarily suspended. There is currently a service every two hours in both directions at both locations.

The train service on trains of the Babylon branch is in progress with hourly service. Anticipate delays.

Customers are welcome to use the Hempstead, Huntington / Port Jefferson or Ronkonkoma branches.

The buses replace the train service between Valley Stream and West Hempstead on the West Hempstead branch.

Commuters who plan to travel to Manhattan for Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade are advised to avoid the junctions on the south coast.
