Power outages reach 300,000 as snow and ice take over from the east of the United States

A major storm, snow and ice that is spreading, will continue to threaten to disrupt travel and power outages in the northeast from Friday until Friday.

The worst conditions are expected in the interior of the center of the Atlantic coast, where there will be ice and generalized snow. The winter climate has already affected cities along the Interstate 95 corridor, such as Washington, D.C.

"There is 6 to 12 inches of snow potential from western Maryland in northwestern Maine, however, freezing rain and freezing rain can reduce accumulations," said Alex Sosnowski, Senior Meteorologist at AccuWeather.

"In some areas it's possible that 1 to 2 inches of slush will fall on the snow," he said.

Two people were killed on Wednesday night in Mississippi and 44 people were injured when a bus overturned on an icy Mississippi road, the Associated Press reported. The accident occurred on Interstate 269 at Byhalia, about 35 km southeast of Memphis.
