The best part of the baseball season officially begins on Saturday with the signature period for free placement, and following the rumors and signatures of this class should be more fun than usual as superstars Bryce Harper and Manny Machado are among the best. Stored markets never.
There are many other intriguing names for lucrative contracts.
This off-season free agent category includes former MVPs (Josh Donaldson, Andrew McCutchen and Joe Mauer), Cy Young winners (Dallas Keuchel, Bartolo Colon) and the 2018 World Series MVP (Steve Pearce).
There are champions (D.J. LeMahieu, Jose Reyes, Carlos Gonzalez, Hanley Ramirez, Matt Holliday, Mauer) and winners of 20 games (Gio Gonzalez, Sabathia CC, J.A. Happ, Keuchel).
There are newcomers with more than 45 backup seasons (Jeurys Familia, Jim Johnson, Craig Kimbrel, Zach Britton, Greg Holland, John Axford).
There is even a member of the 3000 hits club (Beltre).
Who goes where?
We'll see in November, December and January … and maybe in February and March if the market is sluggish for the second season in a row.
In the meantime, here are our predictions that 75 of the best free agents will finish:
