A baby left the fight for his life after being born following an emergency cesarean section after his mother was killed with a crossbow shot in the hospital.

Sana Muhammad, 35, was assaulted yesterday morning at Ilford House, in east London, in front of her terrified children, while she was doing the dishes.

The five-year-old mother, who was eight months pregnant, suffered an injury to the abdomen and was rushed to the hospital where she died.

The doctors performed an emergency caesarean section to give birth to his son, who was named Ibrahim by his broken-hearted relatives, reports the London newspaper The Standard evening.

The mother, who was eight months pregnant, was taken to the hospital where the doctors performed an emergency caesarean section.

Fortunately, the child was safely delivered but stays in the hospital

The former husband of Sana, Ramanodge Unmathallegadoo, 50, was arrested at the scene and appeared in court this morning to be charged with his murder.

Sana's broken-hearted husband, Imtiaz Muhammad, claimed to have seen his wife's killer hiding in the garden shed.

It is thought that the crossbow missed the baby by a few inches and Mr. Muhammad said the doctors had to operate with the arrow still in it.

The baby has been delivered safely but stays in the hospital.

The family today released a picture of little Ibrahim at the hospital hanging on electric wires while he was fighting for life.

Mr. Muhammad reviewed yesterday's horror and described the moment when he saw his wife's murderer hiding in the garden shed.

The 42-year-old said at the Standard she was shot in front of her children aged 1, 4, 12, 15 and 17 years old.

"I went to put a cardboard box in the shed," he said. "He was there with the crossbow loaded.

"He looked at me, he was going to shoot so I rushed into the house. My wife did the dishes, I shouted "run, run."

"He shot him. I can not help but think that she took my arrow. Maybe it should have hit me. The kids were all there, it was horrible.

"The arrow went up in his heart but did not touch the unborn baby. The baby had to give birth in four weeks. They operated with the arrow still inside, as it would have been too dangerous to go out. "

He described Sana as "a wonderful mother and a wife" and declared that he was "heartbroken".

Sana's ex-husband, Ramanodge Unmathallegadoo, was arrested at the scene and appeared in Barkingside District Court today after being charged with murder.

Stunned neighbors said today they heard screams moments after the horrible incident.

A neighbor said, "We saw the police pull out a crossbow arrow as evidence, it looked about 30 cm long".

The police confirmed that Sana and Unmathallegadoo "knew each other" and that the incident meant that the number of homicides committed in the capital reached 118 this year, which is the total for 2017.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: "No other people are being sought for this investigation. The arrested man and woman knew each other.

"The inquiries into the circumstances continue."

DCI Gary Holmes of the Metropolitan Police Command for Homicide and Major Crime said, "This is a tragic incident and our condolences go to the relatives and friends of the victim.

"I appeal to all the witnesses who were in the Applegarth Drive area from Sunday evening November 11 to Monday morning November 12 to contact us to provide us with any information, no matter how small.

"This could prove vital for our ongoing investigation."
