INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – One person died as a result of an early morning accident on the southeast side of town. IMPD investigators suspect alcohol to be one of the factors of the accident, Fox59 reported.
This happened shortly before 1:30 pm Friday, near South Sherman Drive and Southeastern Avenue. A driver, a woman presumed to be in her thirties, died on the scene. The other driver was checked by doctors and released.
A team investigating collisions with IMPD, including a DUI unit, was on the scene to sort out evidence to determine exactly what happened.
"Every time a serious or fatal bodily injury occurs, the current law requires drivers – everyone involved – to have a blood test," said EMEP captain Michael Elder. "I will say that there is alcohol suspected in this accident."
Investigators believe that a white SUV was traveling northwest, in the southeast, and that a brown coupe was heading south on Sherman when the SUV deboned the car.
