A Tampa man faces a federal accusation of abusive sexual contact after the FBI claimed to have poked a woman's breast several times on a Southwest Airlines flight.
According to the FBI, Bruce Michael Alexander, 49, fiddled with a female passenger at least twice during a flight Sunday between Houston and Albuquerque.
During his detention, Special Agent Michael Hopkins said that "the President of the United States believes it is acceptable to seize women by their private parts".
According to a criminal complaint filed in the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, Alexander was sitting in a window aboard flight 5421 Southwest, behind a woman identified by the authorities as CW. plane and about 15 to 20 minutes of flight "felt his clothes move and finger contact on his right side" near his chest.
At first she thought it was an accident. Then, she says, it's happened again. C.W. stated that she remembered "a hand that had thick fingers, furry, dirty nails." She felt his hand grab her arm, then "slowly and 'carefully" groping her right side, "said the complaint.
Witnesses said they saw the woman get up and tell the man behind her that she did not know why he thought it was okay to touch her and that he had to be safe. 39; stop. She requested a different seat and a member of the crew moved it to the back of the plane.
Alexander was arrested by agents at Albuquerque International Sunport. He made a written statement to federal agents, saying that he was sleeping most of the flight, but remembered a woman sitting in front of him who had changed places. He told the officers that he could not describe the woman.
The authorities indicated that Alexander's hands and physical description matched those given by the woman.
Alexander's statement to agents is a likely reference to the infamous 2005 Go to Hollywood ribbon in which President Donald Trump intended to boast of his host, Billy Bush, to touch women without consent.
The tape was released just before Trump successfully won the 2016 presidential election. Bush lost his job at NBC after the release of the tape.
In a statement sent to the Times by e-mail, Southwest representatives stated that "local customer service supervisors and law enforcement officials were required to meet flight 5421 upon their arrival in Albuquerque because of reports of inappropriate behavior of a customer on board ", and to refer any other requests to local authorities.
