CRÊME PHILADELPHIA – The last time the Vikings and Minnesota Eagles met at Lincoln Financial Field, it was the NFC championship game and an Eagles fan allegedly punched a horse at a hatchback before the match. The fan was bloody.
When the game finally began, he quickly turned after Patrick Robinson intercepted Case Keenum and sent him back for a touchdown. Then quarterback Nick Foles falls to the ground. The final score: The Eagles won 38-7, winning the NFC title.
Many things have changed since then.
The Vikings are 1-2-1 and desperately need a win. The Eagles are 2-2 after a tough loss to the Titans in overtime. The Vikings now have Kirk Cousins at quarterback, the Eagles do not have Robinson around the corner and Foles – the most valuable Super Bowl player – is now a replacement behind Carson Wentz.
Neither of them looked like a team worthy of a seed of the two best in the NFC, as they were in 2017.
A loss for one or the other would hurt. Like a punch to a horse.
The loser will be bloody.
