Prime Minister Imran Khan unveiled on Wednesday his government's four-part strategy to pull Pakistan out of its "quagmire of loans."

The first step in ridding the country of its chronic lending cycle is to increase exports, Khan said.

"Currently, we receive $ 20 billion in remittances," said the prime minister. "We (the government) think that if all the money sent in remittances [is sent via legal channels]we will also receive at least $ 10-12 billion.
"At the moment we are running out of $ 12 billion, if we start receiving all of our remittances [through legal channels] then this problem will be solved. "

Attract investment
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of attracting investment, especially foreign companies. "We will continue to face a lack of dollars if we do not attract foreign investment," he warned.
He, however, hailed "the enthusiasm of Pakistanis overseas" for investing in the country and pledged to facilitate them by improving the governance system in Pakistan. He also promised to create an "ease of doing business" for investors – foreign and domestic.
