The obsession of the British royal family shows no sign of disappearing.

And with excitement comes a whole range of conspiracy theories, which include Meghan Markle is actually a robot and Queen Elizabeth II a cannibal.

But that's the link between Prince Charles and the vampires, which Royal fans are talking about this week.

Like all good conspiracies, this one has bases.

According to the genealogy records, Charles would likely descend from Vlad the Impaler, a local ruler who would have placed his enemies on wooden pikes and become the inspiration of Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Revealed for the first time in Alain Moncreiffe's 1982 book, the Prince can trace his lineage through his great-grandmother, Queen Mary, wife of George V, to Vlad IV, the half-brother of the notorious ruler.

The heir to the throne even appeared in a promotional video of the Romanian National Tourist Board, saying: "Transylvania is in my blood".

Responding to a picture of Charles for his birthday posted on Instagram, one of them wrote: "Happy 70th Charles.

"These vampire genes do you good."

Another said, "We know how good you are for 70 years, that's all the blood you sucked LOL."

Prince William and Harry 's father first discovered his connection to the notorious murderer – who would have covered a hill with so many impaled men who looked like a forest – after his first trip to Romania in 1998.

Queen Mary, the wife of George V, Charles's great-grandfather, is believed to have been linked to the 15th-century assassin – and the Prince of Wales seems pleased with this idea.

"The genealogy shows that I am a descendant of Vlad the Empal, so I have a small stake in the country," he joked in a documentary about the Carpathians.

Last year, it was reported that Charles had even received the honorary title of "Prince of Transylvania".

The Mayor of Alba Iulia Mircea Hava said in a letter: "We know how much you love Transylvania.

"It has become your second home and you have been the most valuable ambassador of the region.

"Moreover, you claim your roots from our legendary Prince Vlad.

"While you loved Transylvania so much, we said to ourselves:" Instead of being only "The Prince of Wales", you will now be dubbed "The Prince of Wales AND Transylvania"? "

"You have to admit that" Prince of Wales AND Transylvania "seems to be a fantastic way to introduce himself, as well as being an excellent topic of conversation."

Since his first visit in 1998, Prince Charles has always expressed his love for the culture, the beauty of the countryside and the relaxed lifestyle of the former Principality, where he owns two cottages that the public can rent.

Charles has also done many charitable work in the region to promote conservation, traditional production systems and sustainable development through the Prince of Wales Foundation.
