The heir to the throne, who turned 70 this week, will be ousted from Clarence House on the death of the Queen.
He will take the throne and will go to Buckingham Palace with his wife Camilla, who will become queen consort.
The couple will leave their four-story home despite reports that the Prince of Wales would not move.
A spokesman for Clarence House told Daily Star Online, "Buckingham Palace will be his residence, as he is now for the Queen."
That would be a slap for Charles and Camilla, who would be "very comfortable" at their 15 year old home.
"Buckingham Palace will be his residence just like today for the Queen"

Charles would not be a fan of Buckingham Palace – nicknamed "the big house" – and even wants to turn the 775-room palace into a museum.
A source has already told the Sunday Times: "He does not see it as a viable future home or a home fit for the modern world.
"He feels that his maintenance, both in terms of costs as well as the environment, is not sustainable."
But when Daily Star Online asked Clarence House if Charles would use the site as a second home, as the Queen does with Windsor Castle, the spokesman also said, "That will not be the case."
And when asked what would happen to Clarence House when Charles and Camilla would leave, the royal family would not comment.
It is possible that the house will be passed on to Prince William, who, when Charles becomes king, becomes the heir to the throne.
Despite Clarence House's insistence, Charles will settle in Buckingham Palace – which is currently undergoing a massive £ 370 million renovation – the royal commentators are still not convinced.
Charlie Proctor, publisher of Royal Central, told Daily Star Online that he "would not bet against his stay in his current home."
He said, "It is widely believed that when he ascends to the throne, Prince Charles will settle in Buckingham Palace, a building associated with the monarch's dwelling for many centuries.
"However, I think it's perfectly possible that Charles & Camilla decide to live in Clarence House, their current home, at the death of The Queen.
"Clarence House has been home to Charles and Camilla for 15 years now. They have made it simple and are comfortable. Who wants to leave their ideal home, especially in their day?
"… I would not bet against his stay in his current home."
The republican anti-monarchy Republic group, however, criticized Charles' decision, saying that "if he did not appreciate the terms and conditions of his new job, he would be welcome to withdraw."
Dani Beckett, Vice President of the Republic, told Daily Star Online: "When an increasing number of people will be forced to sleep on the streets because of an unprecedented level of poverty, I can not imagine that the general public will be losing a lot of sleep because of the state of Prince Charles "forced to move into a sumptuous palace.
"If Charles does not like the conditions of his new job, he is welcome to retire and let the general public vote to determine who should be our head of state.
"The royal public relations effort to show how" normal "Charles is at the age of 70 is already starting to deteriorate. The UK is in the midst of housing crisis as Prince Charles complains of not getting his first choice of palace. There is not really a violin small enough to express what the majority of people will feel about it. "
Clarence House once housed the Queen Mother. Prince William and Harry then moved to their father's home before settling in Kensington Palace.
Only Charles and Camilla now live at home.
