Lady Carolyn was a school friend of Princess Diana and the two men maintained a close friendship throughout the life of the Princess of Wales.

In 1985, Prince Andrew and the Princess of Wales attended Lady Herbert's wedding with John Warren at Highclere and became Lady Carolyn Warren.

The friends of the late Princess of Wales spoke about Diana's life on the 20th anniversary of her tragic death in 2017.

Prince Andrew finally met Sarah Ferguson, the daughter of a polo coach, in 1985, prior to the couple's marriage a year later to Westminster Abbey in 1986.

It has long been said that Princess Diana played a role in the formation of the couple.

But the couple initially met did meet as children, but fell into contact until they were adults.

The Duchess of York remembers escaping her father's polo matches as a child to "play with like-minded students, including Prince Andrew, who was only my age."

Diana invited Fergie, as her friends call him, to a party at Windsor Castle after the Ascot races.

The couple again found themselves at the party and started the process by starting out with the same week.
