Federal prosecutors in New York canceled a scheduled meeting with adult movie star Stormy Daniels as part of the criminal investigation into Donald Trump's personal attorney, Michael Cohen, said his lawyer Sunday night.

Several people familiar with the case told NBC News that Daniels – whose real name is Stephanie Clifford – was due to meet with prosecutors Monday in Manhattan. But his lawyer, Michael Avenatti, tweeted that lawyers from the US District Attorney's Office in the Southern District of New York were canceling the meeting, which he said had been scheduled for weeks.

Cohen, 51, has been charged with no crime. The FBI broke into his office and his hotel room in April and would seek information on a $ 130,000 payment that Cohen made to Daniels under a non-disclosure agreement related to a deal she would have had with Trump.

NBC News reported in April that Daniels is cooperating with federal investigators.

A spokesman for the US Attorney's Office declined to comment on the meeting, which was first reported by the Washington Post.
