Boston Celtics' guard, Jabari Bird, reportedly assaulted a woman at least a dozen times over a four-hour period Friday, prosecutors said at an indictment hearing on Thursday.
According to prosecutors, the woman told the police that Bird had strangled her and thrown her against a wall after being quarreled at Bird's residence. She says Bird would strangle her until she becomes "soft", allow her to catch her breath and start to choke her again.
She also stated that Bird had kicked her several times in the stomach and dragged her away from the door when she had tried to leave before closing her to a bathroom.
The woman told the police that she was able to leave after Bird fainted with "crisis" type symptoms.
At the time of the indictment, Bird was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery of family members or home, abduction and strangulation after his arrest during the weekend.
Bird pleaded not guilty to the hearing and is held on a $ 50,000 bail. His next court date is October 25th.
