Captain Amarinder Singh, Prime Minister of Punjab, declined Pakistan's invitation to the laying ceremony of the first stone of the Kartarpur corridor, evoking the continuation of the terrorist attacks in Punjab and the killing of Indian soldiers by the Pakistani forces.
In a letter to Pakistani Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Chief Minister welcomed this historic event, which he described as the cherished desire of Sikhs around the world. However, he said that he could not attend the ceremony.
The Chief Minister stated that his reasons for refusing the invitation were twofold. "Firstly, not a day goes by without Indian soldiers being killed or wounded on the line of control in Jammu and Kashmir", he said, adding that these incidents are only happening. ;intensify.
The Punjab CM noted that a few months ago his battalion lost a major and two jawans in a tense ambush on the Indian side of the CdC, inside Indian territory.
Singh said that the ISI had started its harmful activities in Punjab and that since the appointment of his government in March 2017, the state had neutralized 19 armed and controlled ISI modules, apprehended 81 terrorists and recovered 79 weapons, in addition to numerous grenades from the HG. 84 types manufactured in equipment factories in Pakistan, with Austrian know-how, as well as the seizure of certain bombs.
Singh said that he had denied the invitation in light of the recent grenade attack in Nirankari Satsang Bhawan of Amritsar, where three people were killed and 19 wounded. The attack was perpetrated by Khalistani groups backed by ISI in Pakistan.

The Punjab CM, however, thanked Qureshi for the invitation to the foundation stone ceremony of the proposed corridor linking Gurdara Sahib Kartarpur to Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab Indian, where Sikh Guru Nanak Dev has spent the last 18 years of his life.
The senior minister recalled his visit to Pakistan after paying tribute to Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib and Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib, where his father Maharaja Yadvindra Singh rebuilt Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib in 1932.

He even remembered his meeting with Qureshi during his visit to Pakistan.
The Pakistani Prime Minister expressed the hope that Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan will do everything in his power to bring the two countries closer to peace and friendship.
At the same time, Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu accepted the invitation to the Kartarpur ceremony and announced that he would attend the event.
