MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev will launch the construction of a $ 11 billion nuclear power plant designed by Russia in Uzbekistan, Yuri Ushakov, a Kremlin aide, said Tuesday.

He added that the first block of the station could be put into operation in 2028. During a visit to Uzbekistan, Ushakov also said that Putin and Mirziyoyev would discuss the situation in the neighboring country, Afghanistan .
