LONDON (Reuters) – The Queen of Britain and leading members of the royal family attended a remembrance festival on Saturday commemorating those who lost their lives in conflict on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the end of the war. First World War.
The 92-year-old queen joined her son and heir to the throne Charles, his grandsons William and Harry and their wives Kate and Meghan at the Royal Albert Hall in central London during an event organized to pay tribute to all who have died.
The Royal Family and Premier Theresa May were to attend a tribute to leading actors, writers, singers and military groups at an event organized by the Royal British Legion, a charitable organization specializing in the armed forces.
Events marking the end of the Great War took place around the world, bringing together leaders such as US President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and May in France earlier Saturday.
On Sunday morning, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will join the Whitehall Cenotaph to celebrate the centenary of the end of the war, as well as the royal family and key members of the political and military class.
The government said Steinmeier would be the first German leader to lay a wreath at the cenotaph ceremony before attending a service at Westminster Abbey. What constitutes an act of historical reconciliation.
