Queen Elizabeth's daughter, Princess Anne, explains why she does not shake hands with fans

Princess Anne has revealed why she does not shake hands with the royal fans during her walks.

Anne, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II, said in the upcoming HBO documentary "Queen of the World" that she was following the tradition regarding royal walks.

"We have never shaken hands," said Anne, 68, in a clip published by People. "The theory was that you could not shake hands with everyone, so do not start. So, I stay a little with this, but I noticed that others do not do it.

The princess said the wanderings had become a "shaking hands exercise" since the queen began the tradition in the 1970s. Queen Elizabeth was the first of the royal family to host crowds of fans outside of the events . Before the tradition, "the public was lucky to get a glimpse of the royal family as they passed by."

Anne said technology has made visits difficult.

"The phones are pretty bad, but the iPads, you can not even see their head," said Anne about the meeting of fans. "No idea who you are talking to."

"I do not bother or just say," Look, if you want to ask … I suggest you put that, "she added. "It's strange, people do not believe that they lived the event unless they took a picture."

Other members of the royal family, including Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, are known to stop and greet fans. Middleton has been seen several times chatting with the public during protests.

In July, Harry and Markle spent more than 20 minutes shaking hands and meeting people during their stay at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.
