The Raiders would prefer that their starting offensive line plays at any given moment in a given game. This shows stability and production, giving the unit the continuity it needs to thrive.
Scroll through the list and watch the instant countdown of the offensive line following Thursday night's 34-3 loss to the 49ers. It's an absolute mess.
Injuries have again hit, decimating the confidence and momentum established in an excellent performance from the previous week.
Kolton Miller aggravated a knee injury in the first set and things deteriorated thereafter. An excellent start to the game losing momentum, and the 49ers, terribly terrible, quickly take the advantage.
The Raiders awarded seven sacks and seven additional presses in Derek Carr's 30 fallouts. A J. McCarron was also fired once in cleaning service.
It happened while the Raiders were mixing and agreeing on the line. Ian Silberman entered the left attack for Miller, a situation not ideal for those who do not play there. He went on the right attack when Brandon Parker was sacked. Left-hand goaltender Kelechi Osemele was attacked on the left for the second time in his tenure as Raiders and Jon Feliciano took his place in the interior.
Then, Osemele again injured his knee and came out. So Parker returned to the right tackle and Silberman came back on the line.
Do you have all this? It was exhausting for everyone involved. As expected, the protection was broken, eventually leading Carr to be removed with the game out of reach.
"We played a lot of people (at the front)," said Raiders coach Jon Gruden. "It's difficult, no matter how you slice it.
The Raiders fought hard without Miller, especially with Donald Penn on the injured reserve and T.J. Clemmings inactive and destined for the injured reserve.
The chaos on the offensive line normally leads to a bad game, as was the case against the 49ers. Here is the total number of Raiders snapshots:
