The NFL's trading deadline is less than a week and we all know Howie Roseman likes to trade.
And now he's in a situation where the Eagles could really use one. They sit at 3-4 and at best they will be .500 when they come back from London for their week off.
The Eagles may need help with several positions, but that's how I would categorize their needs:
1. receiver
This may not be quite obvious as Alshon Jeffery is playing so well, but the Eagles have not gotten enough production from their receivers outside of him. Specifically, Mike Wallace was supposed to be the other starter from outside the receiver, a guy who could blow up the defense, and the Eagles really missed that since he injured his fibula. Mack Hollins also did not have Mack Hollins all season after his IR bet before the first game. Maybe one or both of these guys can come back this season, but it's hard to believe that the Eagles can really count on them.
The Eagles would have offered one of their two second-round picks in Amari Cooper's next year's draft, but the Cowboys outbid them, sending Oakland a first player. Never mind. The Eagles were right not to suspend their first-round pick, but their willingness to run a second round shows they're serious about the swap and think they need help at the catcher position .
The Eagles average only 22.0 points per game this season. This represents a drop of 28.6 in 2017. Adding another weapon to Wentz would certainly be helpful.
2. defensive line player
I thought it was a big need before discovering that Derek Barnett was gone for the season. Before Barnett's injury, I imagined that the Eagles definitely needed a defensive tackle and I still think the need is greater than one for a defensive goal, but at this stage it works. They just need another talented player for this group of four who has not yet met expectations.
Sure, maybe Tim Jernigan will be leaving the NFI at some point this year, but again, I do not think the Eagles can count on that. And for last week's game, the Eagles had Fletcher Cox, Treyvon Hester and Bruce Hector as the only active defensive tackles, as Haloti Ngata missed another game due to a calf injury. The Eagles' defense is essentially lobbying, and they could really call on another guy to help them from the start.
3. Defensive back
I think security is a legitimate concern even with Avonte Maddox playing well. He is still a novice player out of position and Rodney McLeod, the Eagles. Sidney Jones is now missing because of this sore hamstring injury. I do not think the corner is as important as some, but they could use a good one. And if a guy like Patrick Peterson is really available, just about any team in the hunt would be silly not to be interested. He is an excellent player.
4. Run
For some, it's at the top of the list. Not for me. If the Eagles had to bring in a player like Le'Veon Bell, that would obviously help them, but I'm not sure they'll be willing to spend a ton of money or assets to get him.
I know that Corey Clement and Wendell Smallwood have problems, but I think these guys can be good enough for running. And I guess Darren Sproles will be back from this thigh injury at some point this season. Even if the Eagles are out and have a half offensively, they will always use a rotation.

It's important to remember that the Eagles could trade without seeing the most glaring hole in the line-up. To make an exchange, they must feel comfortable in what they give up. Sometimes there will be a possible exchange for what they regard as their second or third need or whatever, but the value is correct. It could very well happen. And the position of this player is also important. Some positions are easier to learn and catch up in a short period of time. All of this plays a role.
