These Red Sox have been impressive all season and they really won their playoff title. After losing to the Yankees at home in the second game of ALDS, they rebounded by winning the third game, where they scored 16 points at Yankee Stadium. (Alex Cora reminded everyone of this at the Wednesday parade.) Then, after losing to the Astros at Fenway in the ALCS first game, they won four straight wins, including three in Houston at Minute Maid Park.
The true greatness of this team was revealed after its 18-round defeat against the Dodgers in the third game of the World Series – the longest match of the World Series in history. It seemed that the seven-hour match had exhausted Boston in the fourth game, but the team then rebounded to score nine points on the Dodgers in the last three innings.
The 2018 Sox was a complete and sporty team, balanced in every facet of the game. They led the Major League Baseball average batting (.268), in points (876), in hits (1,509) and in ERA (3,75). Stars like Mookie Betts, JD Martinez, Chris Sale and Andrew Benintendi have been paired with 35-year World Series player Steve Pearce and ALCS player Jackie Bradley Jr. one of the most relentless teams in history.
