A few days after rapper "My Favorite Part" died at age 26 from an apparent overdose, Lil Xan honored her friend in the most permanent way by getting tattooed on her face.

The new ink, which the 22-year-old rapper debuted on Instagram on Sunday, lines the top edge of his right eyebrow and reads "Memento Mori". The Latin phrase translates to "Do not forget that you will die".

"MOMENTO MORI", wrote Lil Xan as a caption to the photo in close-up. "I miss you Mac, you can start hating me now."

The tattoo joins several others that already adorn Lil Xan's face, including a line of dots on his nose, the word "Lover" on his right cheek and a heart on his left cheek.

The new addition, however, sparked strong criticism from Instagram users, prompting Lil Xan to post a second Instagram selfie – this time in the mirror – and to address his detractors after.

"I do it for myself," he wrote, showing an even newer tattoo of black liquid dripping under his right eye. "I'm crazy if that makes me ugly because that's what I wanted, Ugly is the new beautiful, and not really but there is a truth to that, I love you guys"

Later, he explained on his Instagram account that the second tattoo was inspired by Yung Lean and the 1971 film, A mechanical orange whose main character is presented with a similar black drawing around his eye.

After Miller's death, Lil Xan – whose real name is Diego Leanos – shared on Adam22's podcast that the unexpected death of his friend – whom he called his hero – drove him to leave the music forever .

"The Mac is crazy. I'm crying in my apartment, Mac is not dead, Mac has not done an overdose, "he said Saturday. "When your hero dies, it's because I do not want to make music anymore.

There have been a few weeks of emotion for Lil Xan. After it was confirmed in August that the rapper was dating Noah Cyrus, the two men made their public debut at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 20th. Less than two weeks later, however, they finished.

Lil Xan and Cyrus shared what went wrong from their own perspectives through a series of articles on Instagram.

Later, she posted a series of videos about her story on Instagram where she apologized to her fans for the "confused" situation and advised her followers not to let men enjoy it.
