Rebecca Anderson accused of keeping drugged children tied to car seats and hidden in a closet

A Texas babysitter is accused of looking after young children, tying them to car seats with tied ligatures around their necks and keeping them in a dark closet at her home, according to the authorities.

Authorities said Rebecca Anderson confessed to giving Tylenol children "to stop crying and make it easier for them," according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Anderson, 60, of Mesquite, has been charged with nine counts of endangering a child, according to court documents.

A lawyer for Anderson could not be reached immediately for comment.

One of the parents of these children contacted the police last week, stating that he and his wife had attached a small camera to their six-month-old child's seat and found out how Anderson treated their son. The video apparently revealed that Anderson had "pulled" his child from his car seat by the ankle and, at one point, pulled him by a bib around his neck, according to the court records.

The court records indicate that the video also showed Anderson giving the child an unknown substance through a syringe. The parent told the police that the child did not need any medication.

On Friday, police searched Anderson's home in Mesquite, a suburb of Dallas, and found several children tied in car seats – some of which had padded inserts – inside the closet and restroom. The doors were closed and the lights were off, the court records and at least some of the children had "ligatures around the neck".

According to the court documents, the ligatures were cotton laces and were so tight that the children had to be "released from their seats".

The court documents indicated that "the ligatures were attached to the back of the car seat in what appeared to be an attempt to limit the movement." Authorities said that when they questioned Anderson about the kids, she has the victims in order to limit their movements and prevent them from reaching the locking mechanisms and being able to get out of the seat. "

Asked about the syringe, Anderson first told the investigators that she had not given drugs to the children but admitted later that she had probably given them Tylenol according to the court records.

After the investigation, the investigators called the parents of the children to pick them up and advised them to take the children to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Anderson is being held at the Dallas County Jail for a $ 45,000 bail, according to booking records.
