Timothee Chalamet is already on board to play Paul Atreides, the man who will overthrow a galactic empire.
Impossible mission poster head Rebecca Ferguson is negotiating to play with Timothee Chalamet dune, Legendary adaptation of the novel by Frank Herbert directed by Denis Villeneuve.
The company plans to begin production in early 2019 for this ambitious project that Villeneuve is producing with Mary Parent and Cale Boyter.
dune, originally published in the 1960s, addresses political, religious and environmental themes through a science-fiction lens, telling the intricate story of a fallen noble family's attempt to control a desert planet called Arrakis and betrayed by a galactic emperor.
Chalamet plays Paul Atreides, the son of the family ruler, who is forced to flee into the desert desert lands and associate with his nomadic tribes. Using improved mental abilities, he ends up becoming their ruler, nomads believing that he is their messiah and leads an army to overthrow the empire.
Ferguson will play Atreides' mother, Lady Jessica, who escapes with him into the desert and helps him become a savior before their eyes.
Villeneuve, Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts wrote the script. Thomas Tull is executive producer with Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert for the Frank Herbert estate. Author Kevin J. Anderson is a creative consultant.
The novel, which launched a series of books that lasted beyond the death of Herbert, was adapted for the first time in a 1984 film directed by David Lynch with Kyle MacLachlan and who bombed the box office.
Ferguson broke out to the American public with Mission: Impossible – Thieving Nation, playing the role of Isla Faust, who plays with Tom Cruise Ethan Hunt.
