Recall Watch: Duncan Hines Mix Shot To Fear Salmonella

Salmonella's fears prompt Conagra Brands to break out of the Duncan Hines cake mix on the shelves.

The company announced this week that the action was focused on the discovery of Salmonella in a retail sample of Duncan Hines Classic White Cake Mix, which could be linked to an outbreak of salmonella on which the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the US Food and Drug Administration are investigating.

Although it is not definitively established that the product is related to the outbreak and that the investigation is still ongoing, Conagra recalls the classic white blend and three other varieties (Classic Butter Golden, Signature Confetti and Classic Yellow) manufactured during the same period. .

The CDC and the FDA are investigating five cases of salmonella diseases as part of the investigation. Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious or life-threatening infections in young children, frail and elderly people, and people with weakened immune systems.

Several people reported eating a cake mix before getting sick, and some may have eaten raw and uncooked products as well. Consumers are reminded not to consume raw dough.

Medicine cabinets removed for risk of laceration

MCS Industries recalls approximately 15,400 Bi-View medicine cabinets from Glacier Bay because the mirror can come off the door of the medicine cabinet, posing a risk of laceration. The company received 94 cases of detachment and breakage of mirrors, including two cases of laceration in the hands and fingers and six cases of property damage.

Medicine cabinets – sold exclusively at Home Depot and homedepot.com – are 30 inches wide by 26 inches high and feature a beveled silver mirror. The recall only applies to medicine cabinets with one-piece plastic brackets for interior shelves.
