Recap Dancing With the Stars: Juniors: Season 1, Episode 2

[ad_1]

You did not think that the miniaturized version of DWTS was so bad either? Are you back to watch tiny people dance their faces? Well, I'm glad to know that I'm not alone. A warning before you start: kids will dance to songs from the year of their birth, which was like two years ago (I'm bad at math!), So get ready to feel old. Like, very, very old. Fun, right? Let's dance!

Mackenzie Ziegler and Sage Rosen
Mentor: Gleb Savchenko
Quickstep, "are you going to be my girl" by Jet
At least they let us get into the thing "the year you were born" with the oldest celebrity – born all the time 2004. We already know that Mackenzie is an interpreter. So we should not be too surprised that the value of the performance in this pretty little brisk cheerleader walk is high. Mackenzie knows how to sell it! She and Sage are a good team and, even in the second week, they already seem comfortable together. The judges are pleased to see that this week she is more familiar with the routine and her content is faster. Val Chmerkovskiy gives them a standing ovation, which, of course, holds good, dude, it's only the second week.
Judges' rating: 24/30

Sky Brown and JT Church
Mentor: Alan Bersten
Cha Cha, "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga with Colby O'Donis
Can we all agree that Sky is a queen in formation? The "little package of awesomeness", as Mandy calls it, does not even know what year she was born, but guess what? Queens do not need to know stupid things like personal biographical information. They have other people to do this for them. The queens are also fearless, which Sky is doing very well, because she is entrusted with a routine Cha cha with a ton of technical elements and does not discard it. Val loves his maturity, Adam praises the cleanliness of his routine and Mandy calls his intense face. The girl must have gone to school Mark Ballas facial expressions.
Judges' rating: 22/30

Sophia Pippen and Jake Monreal
Mentor: Sasha Farber
Foxtrot, "Love Story" by Taylor Swift
It's great to watch Sophia. Like last week, she seems incredibly shy during rehearsals and pre-dances on camera, but the music starts and she goes. She and Jake (who seems to be the ideal partner of someone so hesitant) are dancing an adorable little foxtrot in a Taylor Swift jam. She is wearing a princess dress and there are small touches of nose. It's very cute, but the judges are a little tough with Sophia: Mandy wants her to work on her arms and extensions, and Adam wants to see more of his personality. Difficult crowd!
Judges' rating: 20/30

Jason Maybaum and Elliana Walmsley
Mentor: Emma Slater
Jive, "Shake It" by the subway station
Jayson, who apparently has the time of his life (very short) apparently, and Ellianna gave us a movie on the theme of the aliens because … I do not know, they found these extraterrestrial bands in the costume closet and wanted to make them spin? I do not understand, but the judges are into it. Val loves all the content that Jayson has managed to pass and Mandy and Adam praise his confidence on the dance floor and elsewhere. Mandy might not praise her too much after asking her to set "balance" just to see if she knew what it meant. How much are these judges paid? I hope a lot.
Judges' rating: 21/30

Mandla Morris and Brightyn Brems
Mentor: Cheryl Burke
Salsa, "Pump It" by The Black Eyed Peas
Wait a second, that's why the salsa of Mandla and Brightyn is "an old gas station" because they dance to a song called "Pump It?". I do not hate that, I just ask. Mandla and Brightyn, despite disappointing scores, remain a highlight. The three judges criticize them because the routine does not have enough salsa content, but it's not for Mandla. They want Mandla to really feel the dance style he's playing. What he can probably do! With the right choreography! Anyway, dismiss the kid is what I say.
Judges' rating: 22/30

Hudson West and Kameron Couch
Mentor: Hayley Erbert
Pasodoble, "4 Minutes" of Madonna with Justin Timberlake & Timbaland
Pasodoble must be a difficult style for these children. It's so intense to create these larger-than-life shapes, but their bodies are so tiny! It sounds a bit awkward for Hudson, but you can say he's doing his best. Val could not believe that he just saw a superhero cloak become a paso cape (get out more, man, but also: yeah, Hayley!). Mandy thought that Hudson really embodied his character and the character of the dance. Adam wants Hudson to relax a bit. We are all supposed to have fun here!
Judges' rating: 22/30

Miles Brown and Rylee Arnold
Mentor: Lindsay Arnold
Argentine Tango, "I do not want to be" by Gavin DeGraw
So the success of Gavin DeGraw in 2004, "I do not want to be," may not be my favorite. first choice for an Argentine tango, but Miles and Rylee succeed. Sometimes it sounds more like a paso, but they really do have that routine. He has a lot more technique and partner work (especially on hold) than their salsa of the first week, but that does not intimidate Miles. Mandy loved Mastering Miles all along the way – he was in the lead. Val agrees and points out how difficult it is to be in control during a dance like this when your partner is taller than you. # PersonnesProblèmes
Judges' rating: 24/30

Alana Thompson and Tristan Ianiero
Mentor: Artem Chigvintsev
Cha Cha, "Do not Cha Cha" Pussycat Dolls & Busta Rhymes
True Confession: I was going to come here and say that their 13-year-old daughter was dancing on 'Do not Cha', but Val then uttered the most glorious phrase ever spoken in this show: I never thought I would be moved by a Pussycat Doll song, but … "My heart grew in 10 sizes. He is proud to observe Alana's transformation in this show. Mandy has some constructive criticisms: Alana has to work her timing, she is too excited and ahead of the music. Adam points out that she sometimes seems to "walk around like [she was] at the mall "but at least it was less walking than the first week. Improvement!
Judges' rating: 19/30

Akash Vukoti and Kamri Peterson
Mentor: Witney Carson
Cha Cha, "Dynamite" of Taio Cruz
It does not matter if you do not know how to explain Swagger as long as you can play with a little cha cha. I mean, did you see tutting? Akashi has a little braggart baby! Who knew? As cute as these routines are, my favorite part of all this continues to see our DWTS the pros as mentors. Witney seems to have the fullest hands with Akash and Kamri. Explaining to her that no, she never said that this routine was "a party" is a delight. Judges do not offer any real criticism, so thank you for being here, I guess?
Judges' rating: 21/30

Ariana Greenblatt and Artyon Celestine
Mentor: Brandon Armstrong
Jive, Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend"
I'm sorry, did you see Artyon jump over Ariana's head? Come on! Val calls them the couple to beat and he may be right: they have both sides of the series – performance and technique – down. Adam even gives their punk rock jive (why did not we always attend this April 2007 jam?) A standing ovation, which, I suppose, is something we are doing now in this show. The official ranking may have a tie to three, but there is the impression that Ariana and Artyon also have the crowd behind them. Okay, now I have to do a Google search for an adult size punk tutu. The heart wants what the heart wants!
Judges' rating: 24/30

As festive and optimistic as this show tries to be, we must always deal with the depressing affair of eliminating another couple. Unfortunately, this week, it means saying goodbye to Hayley's team: Hudson and Kameron.
