A passionate jogger who just got engaged was stabbed to death while he was on the run in Washington, in an attack that, according to the police, would probably be random, according to reports.

Wendy Karina Martinez, 35, was stabbed several times around 8 pm Tuesday in the Logan Circle area, according to WUSA9.

His abuser fled – while a bloody Martinez fell into a Chinese restaurant, asking for help. The video surveillance video shows Martinez bleeding from the neck as she tries to portray her attacker to horrified customers, according to Fox 5 DC.

She collapsed while clients, including a nurse, rushed to her aid. Martinez was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries.

A suspect has been arrested for his murder, sources told WTOP radio.

Martinez was engaged to Daniel Hincapie last week and was delighted to plan their wedding, said his family in a statement.

"We are deeply saddened by this senseless tragedy. Wendy Karina Martinez was the light of our lives, "the statement said. "Not only was she a passionate runner, but she was a dedicated Christian, a great friend and a motivated professional. Everything you hope from a girl and a friend could be. "

Martinez, who lived near the place where she was attacked, was the chief of staff of the Washington-based FiscalNote technology company.

DC Police Chief Peter Newsham said the stab was most likely random.

"It's one of the troubling types of incidents that sometimes happen in big cities, but it seems like a singular incident," he said.
