The first two marijuana retail stores in Massachusetts are expected to start selling products to the public on Tuesday, marking the first pot sale for recreational use in the east of Mississippi.

The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission has given the green light to Cultivate Holdings, LLC, which has a store in Leicester, and the New England Treatment Access (NETA) LLC, which is preparing a store in Northampton, to start selling marijuana and marijuana products.

Both are expected to open Tuesday at 8 pm and already know who will be their first customers.

Stephen Mandile, an Iraqi veteran and medical marijuana advocate, will buy an ounce of jar and edible products once Cultivate opens at 8 am, the Boston Globe announced.

At the same time, Northampton Mayor David Narkewicz – a veteran of the Air Force – will enter the NETA and buy an edible product, according to the newspaper.

Dispensaries are expecting a massive influx of clients from across the region.

To purchase marijuana for recreational purposes, guests must be at least 21 years of age and present a valid government issued photo ID.

The crops will be open on Tuesday from 8h to 20h. and guests can start queuing at 7 am, although camping at night or queuing is prohibited.

The clinic has announced that a catering truck and a DJ would be on site.

NETA will be open from 08:00 to 22:00. Local police will also assist with potential traffic problems, while NETA staff will be on hand to advise and assist clients.

Both dispensaries accept debit and cash transactions.

Customers will be allowed to buy up to one ounce of pot – the amount that current regulations allow individuals to own in public at any time – even though crowds are potentially large Tuesday, companies can maintain their limits per person.

In addition to flowers, dispensaries will sell edible products, oils, pre-rolled joints and other products.

Current regulations allow individuals to simultaneously own up to 10 ounces of marijuana at home, as well as any marijuana produced from locally grown plants.

Cultivate is located at 1764 Main St. in Leicester.

NETA is located at 118 Conz Street in Northampton.
