Manager Alex Cora said the decision to join Núñez over Rafael Devers was rooted in their ability to get to work.
"With David on the mound, with these right-handed guys, there are a lot of ground balls hit on that side of the infield," said Cora. "Although we felt good [Devers] with his range and everything, but, throughout the season, he was inconsistent in making routine games. So, in the end, we decided to go with [Núñez] at third base because we think he's the best defensive player.
Heath Hembree replaces Steven Wright in the series formation: Right-hander Heath Hembree will take Knuckleballer's place in the rest of the ALDS, the Red Sox announced Saturday afternoon. Wright, who suffered an MRI on Friday night in Match 1, was diagnosed with "left knee inflammation and loosening". If the Red Sox advance, it will miss the ALCS but will be able to return for the world series. Hembree launched 60 relief sleeves in the regular season, allowing 10 home runs. His EER is 4.20.

Still looking for his first playoff win, he said on Friday that he was considering Saturday's start against the Yankees as "just another match". Even though he did not win the W, Price said he was determined to contribute to the team's collective success.
"If I lose all the series and win a world series, I'll take it," said Price. "I do not want it to speak about me and I do not win. I want to go out [Saturday] and throw the ball well, and help the Red Sox win. "
Price is 0-3 with a 10.34 ERA in four regular season starts against the Yankees this year. Manager Alex Cora identified the start of July 1st at Yankee Stadium – when Price gave five circuits in threeManches sleeves – as a turning point in the season. Since that game, Price has been 11-2 with an average of 2.72.
