Next Monday night will mark a #RevengeGame for Adrian Peterson. The offensive midfielder, however, said that he had no chance with the Saints of New Orleans.
"I do not have any enemies there," Peterson said via the Washington Post. "It was a wonderful city. They treated me well. I'll be back for a few donuts when I'm there. But it will be nice to see some of the guys that I spent the training camp with all this difficult process. Unfortunately, it did not work.
"I'm still sitting and I do not understand what's wrong, but at the end of the day, it brought me here on another occasion … I made friends that I will keep all my life during my stay. "
Frankly, sir, Alvin Kamara has arrived.
After Peterson's signing in New Orleans in 2017, the Saints drafted Kamara in the third round of the project. If Sean Payton knew that he would run the shifty in the repechage, it is likely that Peterson would never have been signed.
All Day spent four games in New Orleans, earning 81 yards in 27 attempts (3.0 yards per run on average). The experience included a nasty look at Payton with a few words on the sidelines in the opening match over former Peterson team, the Minnesota Vikings. The running back was released and landed in Arizona six times last year.
Peterson said he understood the saints wanting to release photos for the vibrant Kamara.
"Yes, I know talent when I see it," said Peterson. "… just be around him and learn his personality and see his work ethic. That, with the talent that he was able to present in the OTAs and the training camp, and be a rookie Also, it was obvious that he was going to be there for a long time.
"His toughness, it's sort of like Payton's ideal offensive, until the Reggie Bush half-ball, but he's also a physical guy." And he is physical. "
Peterson landed in Washington this season and was a workaholic in three games, accumulating 236 yards in 56 carries (4.2 yards per bag). At 33, the running back still has a bullet in the hole, an unstable phone booth and the power to defeat the defenders.
Peterson added that he was giving defense advice on the Payton system.
"I know the personality of these guys offensively," said Peterson. "… I've talked to guys, giving them an idea of the type they're going to face.I think it will be useful in itself."
We will see how useful will be seen Monday night in New Orleans.
