The Washington Redskins needed help from the receiver and took some action on Monday to strengthen the group.
After defeat in the Josh Gordon draw, Washington signed Breshad Perriman and Michael Floyd, said Ian Rapoport, an NFL network insider. via an informed source of the situation.
Perriman entered the league in 2015 as the Baltimore Ravens first-round pick, but was never able to do so after spending his rookie campaign on the injured reserve. In the past two seasons, he has totaled 43 catches for 576 yards and three touchdowns in 27 games before being released on September 1 as part of the team's actions to establish the initial list of 53 players for the 2018 regular season.
Floyd joins the Redskins after a short pre-season stint with the New Orleans Saints. He played with the Minnesota Vikings last season and was part of the winning New England Patriots Super Bowl team the previous season. Floyd signed with the Redskins after working for the team, Rapoport reported.
Washington should inject life into the broad group of receivers as Chris Thompson's return to the top of the 19 catches leads the team and tight winger Jordan Reed is second with nine catches.
Before signing with Perriman, the Redskins worked on drops, close-quarters and quarterbacks, Rapoport reported. Among them were receiver Kendall Wright and quarterback Paxton Lynch, added Rapoport.
Perriman joins a large receiver group led by Paul Richardson, Josh Doctson and Jamison Crowder.
