TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Whether you hate rolls of tootsie or licorice, the truth is we all have Halloween sweets we do not like. But this year, Reese's comes to the rescue with its own sweets machine.
"Reese Halloween Candy Making Machine" was released for the first time on Sunday, Oct. 28, at a Halloween parade in Tarrytown, NY.
The machine allows people to swap candies they do not want for Reese's peanut butter cups.
But why is Reese helping us in our fight against sweets this year?
According to a recent poll commissioned by Reese, 90% of Americans say they exchanged or hoped to have swapped their candy for Halloween, told CNN Anna Lingeris, spokesperson for Reese Hershey's distributor.
"As the first Halloween candy (with more than half of the candy buyers buying Reese's), Reese's developed a solution: give us your unwanted sweets and we you will give what you really want – Reese's peanut butter cups, "Lingeris said.
Unfortunately, New Yorkers will be the only ones to get their candy wishes this year.
This Wednesday at exactly 4pm, Reese's candy converter – a huge orange machine not to be missed – will be set up in front of Washington Square Park on 5th Avenue in New York and will remain in place until 9pm. Reese's is expected to distribute up to 10,000 cups of peanut butter, Lingeris said.
Earlier this month, Hershey announced he was trying to find new ways to seduce customers with candy. This candy exchange system may do the trick on Halloween.
Lingeris says that she spent the day before Halloween answering the same question asked by several people over and over again: "When will the machine arrive in my city?"
"It's been a good day and we like the comments of our fans," she said. "Maybe we'll bring Reese's Candy Exchange to other cities, stay tuned for Halloween 2019."
