Regards the Moon event set Saturday | Local News

Members of the public are invited to celebrate International Observe the Moon Night on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 8 pm with Starcreek Astronomical Society volunteers. The free event will be held at the NWOSU-Woodward campus at 2007 34th St.

International Observes the Moon is an annual worldwide public event that encourages observing, appreciation and understanding of the Moon and its connection to NASA planetary science and exploration. The annual event connects scientists, educators and lunar enthusiasts from around the world.

The Woodward event is from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will include activities on the phases of the moon, views of special craters, and special facts about the Moon.

After the sun sets, head outside and catch a glimpse of the Moon. Starcreek Astronomical Society will be in Woodward with telescopes, providing a guided tour of the Moon, planets and other celestial objects for visitors.

NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) mission and partners. LRO is managed by NASA 's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, for the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

There is no cost or required registration for the event.
