More than 130,000 pounds of ground beef are recalled nationwide due to E's concerns. Coli, announced the USDA Wednesday (September 19). The beef was sold under different brands.
According to the USDA, Cargill Meat Solutions stated that ground beef items were made from the chuck portion of a carcass that could be contaminated by Escherichia coli O26.
Cargill said its products are sold nationwide, including at Publix stores in Florida. It was not known immediately if the items included in the recall had been sold in Louisiana.
Public health officials say that raw ground beef has been associated with 17 illnesses and one death, with dates of onset ranging from July 5 to July 25.
Most infected people develop diarrhea and vomiting. Most people recover within a week, but rarely, some develop a more serious infection, according to the USDA. Hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure, is common.
The USDA is concerned that some of the recalled products may be frozen and in consumer freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are advised not to consume them and discard them or return them to the place of purchase.

The ground beef products were produced and packaged on June 21st. The following products are subject to recall:
