Replace Stan Lee's cameos with Deadpool? It's a terrible idea

When Stan Lee passed away this week at the age of 95, many fans fondly remembered the legend of Marvel Comics and its history. sneaky cameos in Marvel movies. (Lee as a FedEx delivery guy shouting for "Tony STANK" could be my favorite forever.)

Soon, the discussions focused on what Lee moviegoers would see in future movies. (Here some to watch.)

But in a world where we can not leave anything in peace, there was also talk of making sure that someone else, perhaps Deadpool, replaces Lee to make the future MCU cameos.

Marvel has not said anything about it. That's all the talk of fans. Let's be clear, but in case that goes further, this idea is as awful as sweeping a Hulk parking spot.

A Reddit contributor has launched the idea very well, suggesting that Ryan Reynolds' pleasurable Mercenary Deadpool comes in Lee's place. And another fan twisted the idea, claiming that Deadpool had to wear Lee's iconic sunglasses, a gray wig and a mustache. To steal a line from Deadpool himself: "You clown, you do not clown, I smell clowns." And to steal another line, the famous and messy character probably said at one point: "No @ #!%! ^ #."

It's a fun idea, but it may be a fun idea for an editorial caricature, along with the one showing Lee reaching St. Peter's at the Gates of Heaven using Spider-Man's canvas or costumed superheroes getting holding around Lee's coffin.

Lee's cameos, like those of Alfred Hitchcock before him, were tiny moments in a complex cinematic universe. Seeing them again this week, I was surprised at how short some of them were. Some, like Tony Stank's, were a little longer, but sometimes it was only a face in the crowd, a background character that rewarded the attentive eyes of his fans.

If Deadpool showed up at Stan Lee, viewers would come out of the film's carefully crafted universe. Deadpool in a wig could never be just a guy at the gaming table or a man on the street. It would always be a reminder that Lee had the habit of making these cameos, and now he's gone, and here's a fun way to remember him.

Anyone who knew Lee's contribution to the world would probably be sadly saddened, or at least somewhat nostalgic. All those who did not know it would be in the embarrassment: why does this watery character come suddenly, says Wakanda, standing in a gray wig and sunglasses?

It's not that these cameos are meant for bad taste, but simply that they are part of Lee and Lee alone. All can not or should not be redone and reworked to infinity. Great power involves a great responsibility not to spoil everything.

Sometimes the concepts of entertainment, be it a character, a scenario or a cameo, should be left out with those who own it. From FedEx driver to Larry King's double, Lee presented his cameos with a unique touch, as irreplaceable as he is. He is the only Marvel actor who can not be re-cast.
